The TikTok Creator Fund is not yet available in Canada.

Currently, only users based in the US, UK, and select European countries can join the program.

Rumours have been circulating since late 2022 that the Creator Fund will begin accepting Canadians sometime in 2023.

However, there has yet to be an announcement of a firm date.

What is the TikTok Creator Fund?

The TikTok Creator Fund is provides financial compensation to users who create and upload videos to the platform.

TikTok launched the Creator Fund in June 2020 with an initial investment of $200 million, intending to grow it over time.

The overarching goal of the fund is to encourage users to create high-quality content for the platform to increase user activity and engagement.

The amount of money an individual can earn by enrolling in the Creator fund is based on several factors.

These include the number of views their videos receive and engagement time from their audience.

As such, the amount of money a creator can expect to earn will vary based on how well their content performs.

TikTok depends heavily on organic traffic to grow and retain its user base, so the more people it can attract to its website and app, the more profit it generates.

Therefore, by sharing some of its income with its user base, it incentivizes the creation of entertaining, educational, and informative videos.

In addition, it encourages users to post more content on its platform instead of its competitors like YouTube and Instagram.

Alternative Ways to Make Money on TikTok

Though the Creator Fund is still inaccessible to Canadians, there are plenty of ways to earn money from your TikTok videos.

Here are some ideas to explore.

1. Affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is an activity where you promote another business’s product or service.

It involves placing links to a company’s website on your TikTok channel, usually in your bio.

Each time a viewer clicks on the link and makes a purchase, you’ll earn a commission.

2. Sponsorship.

One of the most lucrative ways to earn money from TikTok is to find a company to sponsor you.

A sponsorship involves partnering with a brand to promote its product or service on one or more of your videos.

3. Live stream gifts.

Going live is a great way to get paid, especially if you’ve gained a large and enthusiastic audience.

Your viewers will have the opportunity to shower you with virtual gifts, which you can then convert to cash.

Essentially, this is a form of online tipping.

Another way to collect tips is to sign up for a Buy Me a Coffee account.

4. Sell your own products.

Instead of selling other people’s products through affiliate marketing, you can sell your own and keep all of the profit.

With affordable and user-friendly platforms like Shopify, setting up an online store and collecting payments is easy.

Of course, you can also sell ebooks and other digital products, which offer higher profit margins than physical items.

5. Offer paid content.

You don’t need to give away all your content for free in your videos.

Consider locking your premium content behind a paywall so that viewers must pay you a fee to access it.

One way to do this is to set up a Patreon account to offer multiple content tiers at different monthly rates.

This is a great way to generate consistent income from your TikTok channel.

TikTok also provides a feature called Series, which allows you to charge a fee for access to exclusive content.

6. Become a TikTok consultant.

More and more businesses are seeing the benefits of using TikTok to expand their reach and capitalize on market trends.

If you have extensive experience with TikTok and know how to acquire and leverage a large audience, see if some brands may benefit from your expertise for a price.
